Proposal

Our goal for this project is to create a dynamic archive of contemporary Elks lodges beginning with the Midwest and New Ehgland regions of the United States. The initial structure of our project will be photographically centered, but our overall approach will be interview based, emphasizing personal dialogues. This project will be collaborative, allowing the singular Elks communities to participate in their collective history.

This will be an ongoing project that will benefit and give back to all of the participants, and we are confident that the material has both universality and appeal. Essential to our conception is a willingness to allow the material to dictate its final form, and we see great potential in the anachronistic hybrid of Elks culture and new means of expression.

This archive will democratizes images and history, and extended to the archive itself by way of the Internet.
